Elisa is proud to announce that the work of her grandfather and renowned painter, Joseph Plavcan, will feature at the Erie Art Museum beginning September 2024.
The show, Joseph Plavcan: The Making of an Artist Part II, is the second chapter of a three-part retrospective. The works on display highlight Plavcan's stylistic evolution spanning his 50-year career.
Joseph Plavcan was born to Czechoslovakian parents who immigrated to the United States before his birth. He studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and later taught for nearly 40 years at Erie Technical High School.
Plavcan was an observer of life and color. He often painted scenes of Erie life and landscape. Joseph Plavcan remains one of Eerie's most celebrated artists and art educators.
An original screen print from Joseph Plavcan is on display and for sale at E. Drumm Designs Gallery.
